“RENEW”
Abstract Texture
Canvas 23″ x 17″
My journey into the world of abstract texture art began with this piece, centered on the them of restoration and renewal of the body, soul and spirit. I came with it whilst driving home from Santa Monica one afternoon, stranded in rush hour traffic on the 405. Sealed with high gloss varnish to protect the credibility of the texture from cracking and crumbling, this original painting is called. “RENEW.” Coming soon to my Etsy store, Legends and Lore Co.
“FORGET ME NOT”
Abstract Impressionism
Canvas 20″ x 16″
The inspiration for this painting came from a dream I had a few weeks back. In the dream someone handed me a bluish-purple flower that I didn’t recognize and I had to look up what it was upon waking. I discovered that the flower was a “FORGET ME NOT” which symbolizes remembrance, loyalty and devotion. Though I had fully intended to paint something else entirely that day, the moment I picked up my palette knife I felt the sudden inspiration to paint a field of forget me nots, and thus, this painting was born!
“ALL THINGS NEW”
Acrylic Texture
Canvas 20″ x 16″
I chose GREEN for the foundation of this painting because it symbolizes New Beginnings, New Life & Growth. BROWN was the secondary color, which symbolizes humility and change, which are both necessary elements for personal growth and maturity. RED symbolizes redemption and ORANGE, power and energy. WHITE symbolizes purity, which ties all the pieces together.
“FREEDOM”
Varnished Acrylic
Canvas 23″ x 18″
This original painting is called. “FREEDOM.” When I first posted this painting on social media, I received an almost instant notification from Instagram that my painting had been “banned” in Russia. I shrugged and went about my day, thinking little of it. It wasn’t until later that evening that it occurred to me that this painting had been banned because of the color scheme and how closely it resembled protest art relating to the war with Ukraine. Although that wasn’t my original intention, I can honestly say that the color scheme just “came to me” as I was working and I have several close friends from that nation. Perhaps it was my spirit crying out alongside my brothers and sisters for Freedom. I am honestly proud to say that my little painting was considered a threat in some way on that front and am happy to announce that Instagram has since unflagged this piece of artwork and it is now displayed on my page.
